Call Forward

Call forward refers to a call being made to a specific phone and the call is transferred or “forwarded” to another phone. Forwarding calls is similar to forwarding mail. If you are forwarding your mail to another address, the mail sent to your original address is forwarded to the new address. This works the same way for phone calls. If someone calls your number but you are temporarily or permanently at another phone number, you can have the call forwarded to your new number.

When you call forward, a local call can be made to a long distance or even an international destination. To do this, you simply set up a local number in a given area where people are likely to be calling you. When people call that local number, you can have the calls automatically transferred to another phone anywhere on the globe. This greatly simplifies the caller’s experience of placing the call.

The person placing the call does not have to do anything different to initiate a call forward. Actually, they do not even need to know that the call is being forwarded anywhere else. As far as they are concerned, they are placing a routine phone call to a local or toll free phone number.

The actual call forward is done automatically once the line is set up for call forwarding. Once the system is set up, the recipient of the call does not need to do anything different either. They simply answer the call forward as they would any other call.

A call forward can be made to and from landlines or mobiles. It really does not matter what type of phone it is, the calls can still be forwarded. This works great, for example, if a person is going to be away for a time and want to receive calls to their home phone on their mobile phone. By simply setting up a call forward from their home phone to their mobile, they will receive all their home calls right on their mobile phone.
