What is VIP Caller?

VIP caller is a call routing strategy that lets your business prioritize incoming calls. This way, your top accounts and customers always get assistance when they need it. There are a few different ways to set up VIP routing with your phone service provider.

How to Route Priority Calls with VIP Routing?

There are three ways to set up and use VIP caller routing with Global Call Forwarding.VIP routing for call forwarding.

1. Geo-Routing (Location-based routing) — Route calls based on the caller’s geographic location.

2. Caller ID Routing — Route calls based on the caller ID.

3. Dedicated phone numbers — Get a dedicated phone number to give out to VIP clients. Set up an X-digit extension for VIP callers to press or get a phone number and only “whitelisting” VIP callers. Then, decide where you want these calls to be routed.

Whichever route you choose, you can enter area codes based on locations or caller IDs you want to prioritize. Then, you decide where those calls route to. You may choose to send priority calls to the best salesperson managing the caller’s region. Or, you may send calls that require a specific skill set to an agent with those skills. For example, send Spanish-speaking callers to Spanish-speaking agents.

How to Set up VIP Caller Routing?

You can set up VIP call routing in the Control Panel through Global Call Forwarding. Here is how you can configure this routing strategy with your call forwarding number:

  1. Log in to your Control Panel.
  2. Choose a phone service line and click on Settings.
  3. Select Call Forwarding from the horizontal menu and click IVR.
  4. Click on the Manage IVR Applications button.
  5. Click the Create New Application button on the top right.
  6. Select Caller ID Routing from the actions displayed and click on New Rule. Here, you can enter the area codes or caller ID of calls you want to prioritize.
  7. Then, select Phone Call from the actions displayed.
  8. Here, you can enter the destination for incoming calls you want to prioritize.
  9. To save your IVR application, click on Close at the bottom and then Save Application on the top right.
